Big News!
We found Nick’s a home!
We’re so excited to announce that we found a home for Nick’s Ceramics Studio in the heart of South Pasadena. The 6,000 square foot building is perfect for our studio. We have lots of work to do before we are ready to open but are so excited to begin progress with you!
We do not yet have our exact opening date but are planning on being up and running in July so keep an eye out for our newsletter to be the first to know when signups for these programs open.
What We’re Up to Right Now
Our location is a beautiful historic building on the corner of Fair Oaks and Mission (right across the street from Two Kids Coffee!) The facade of the building has original tile and our floor is the original oak wood from the 40’s. It's a rare gem 🙂 and we are so happy we found it. Overall it has the look of a classic artist loft and we think it fits our vision perfectly. Right now we are busy making repairs and painting walls, improving lighting, and dreaming up the perfect layout. We have been talking about this project for over four years and we are so excited to finally be working on our own studio. This week we are bought our first kiln and were beginning to gather tables, stools, and everything else we need.

Our Vision
About our Name- We’re carrying on Nick’s Legacy.
Nick's Coffee Shop, a family-run diner, opened in 1946 on Pico and La Cienega. Vannesa’s grandmother was a waitress there in the 80’s, dreaming of owning a diner herself one day. In 1996, she and her grandfather bought it from the original owners. Her parents met while working there, shortly afterwards Vannesa came around and Nick’s quickly became a second home to her.
Nick’s fostered a close-knit community: people shared stories, vented about work, relationships, some sought comfort, others a bit of gossip, and a few just needed a hangover cure. Vannesa’s grandfather, sitting outside, would welcome everyone, creating a space of belonging for anyone who walked through the door. Nicks wasn’t just a home to her; it was a home for the entire community.
With Nick’s Ceramics Studio, we’re carrying on Vannesa’s family’s legacy. Our goal is to create a space where all kinds of people can come together to create, learn, laugh, cry, and share in the sense of community that made Nick’s such a special place. We’re building a new "third-space" where people can connect, just as we did at the coffee shop—but now, through clay and the shared experience of creating together.
